If you enjoy Sand Free steps to beach access and sandy places to wash off your feet at 6am on a Sunday morning your in luck. The only reason I came to town was for the free fishing weekend and the 6am leaf blower blowing sand off the steps to the beach on a Sunday Morning ruined my whole trip. I came in off the fishing pier at Ocean View at 1am and got back to my room and feel asleep by 2am. Then 6am I'm awoken by a leaf blower outside my Ocean view room. I was so angry and frustrated I couldn't go back to sleep so I got up and drove 3 and 1/2 hours home. Plenty of other fishing spots and VA beach ain't going to be one of them.

We stayed at the Sea Hawk Motel and it was beachside and very close to everything! We ended up walking everywhere we went which was very convenient! My kids loved the indoor pool and of course my husband and I enjoyed the hot tub while they swam! The monuments/statues/structures of different things were absolutely amazing to see and my kids even loved looking at them and learning. One thing my kids were a little disappointed in was that there is no sea shells on the beach. But we definitely will be back!!

Please visit Virginia Beach but make sure you reserve well known hotels like Marriott, Holiday In, Courtyard etc. so you can stay at a decent hotel. Stay away from a resort call SUN and SAND RESORT. The local restaurants are 10/10. We loved all the foods we had.

For me, as a teacher with an April break, living in Maine, it was an easy day drive. I did not want to go all the way to Florida, as my family of 5 had done for many years. I hopped in my car at 3a.m. in Maine, and was at Virginia Beach by 530p.m. My son and I stayed the whole week. We discovered Virginia Beach the year before, returned this past April break, and will continue to do so. It is beautiful. We stayed on the quieter side, and that was perfect for us. We went exploring this trip. We went to the state park and hiked around, I discovered Virginia Beach Winery storefront, and just finished my last bottle of wine from there, wishing I had bought more, as it was delicious. We also discovered some wonderful local eateries recommended by locals. Its a wonderful recharge in April! Oh, also The Norfolk Botanical Gardens was a beautiful place! Can't wait to go back and see the new additions next year!

The people smoking Marijuana inside the hotel room it was so strong the smell came inside the room with my child we had to change rooms its was sad because it nice place there should be a stricter policy set in hotels for the respect of others

The beach at Virginia Beach is big and beautiful. In comparing beaches, I'm reminded of Ocean City , NJ, at low tide, for size of beach from water to boardwalk area. In Ocean City, the sand is light; in VA, the sand is a grittier brown. Nice beach. The town area looks seedy to me. You might consider a comparison to Atlantic City before casinos; gritty town and gritty people. Sorry, you asked.
